It is easy to focus on the negatives in life. All humans have stress and hardship we must endure; this is unavoidable and it's just part of life and being human.
Expressing appreciation and being thankful can reduce depression, lower blood pressure, increase energy, increase happiness, and even prolong your life!
Living a life of gratitude brings you a lot of positive changes and helps you notice little wins – like the sun shining or the air you breathe.
Gratitude unshackles people from negative thinking and negative emotions by shifting our attention away from these negative emotions, we can then begin to start focusing on positive ones. It may take time to feel better after practicing gratitude. So, it’s imperative to practice it daily and to be patient while waiting for its benefits to kick in. 💚
Expressing gratitude to people or things has lasting, positive effects on the brain. Practicing gratitude may help ‘re-train’ the brain to be more sensitive to being grateful, improving our overall mental health over time.
Eventually, being grateful will come naturally as long as you keep practicing!
When I coach people one on one, I ask them to think about what they are grateful for.
All of a sudden, I am met with a blank stare and then the uncomfortable shifting begins....
I then have to step in and remind them to think of something in their life...right now, that they feel they couldn't live without... 9 out of 10 times they bellow out, "COFFEE!" 🤣
Haha! Well, I can't live without coffee either and this is why I am SO grateful to have the means to brew a cup every morning! I am grateful for the coffee pot, the water, the magick beans!☕
People always think being grateful has to be some enormous grandiose thing. It doesn't! Being grateful is recognizing you have things, everyday, right under your nose to be grateful for.
Everyone can find three things to be grateful for on a daily basis.
Just think about the water that comes out of your tap. This is literally a luxury that many people around the world do not have access too. Running, clean water – you can bathe, drink, cook and clean your home with....and of course, make coffee with!
Think about the device you are reading this on…did you ever think you would have a ‘computer’ in the palm of your hand? We have the ability to explore literally everything and anything you could possibly imagine.
So, right now, take a moment to list three things you are grateful for.
Why three? The number 3 is a symbol of harmony. 💛
Feel free to share the things you are grateful for in the comments below....maybe you will inspire someone else to be grateful today...
Until next time... Live, Love & Magick!
